Regular Season Round 23: Escaramuzas - Quetzales 60-64

There was a minor upset in Jalisco where 5th ranked Escaramuzas (12-7) were defeated by seventh ranked Quetzales (10-9) 64-60 on Saturday. Quetzales forced 19 Escaramuzas turnovers. It was a great evening for Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-1987) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. American point guard Aniese Palmore (165-1994, college: UMW) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Palmore is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Quetzales players scored in double figures. Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Joselyne Padilla scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Quetzales. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Atleticas. Escaramuzas lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Quetzales will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Escaramuzas will play again against Quetzales (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
