Regular Season Round 23: Algodoneras - Lobas 65-96

No shocking result in a game in Comarca where fourth ranked Lobas (14-7) smashed 10th ranked Algodoneras (5-14) 96-65 on Saturday. Lobas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Algodoneras' 36 and made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Lobas forced 29 Algodoneras turnovers and outrebounded them 43-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican Andrea Medina (169-1992) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Lobas players scored in double figures. Lobas' coach Israel Zermeno felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. Power forward Vania Martinez (181-1996) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Sujei Cera (173-1997) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 14-7 record. Algodoneras lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Las Plebes. Lobas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Algodoneras will play again against Lobas (#4) and hope to secure a win.
