Regular Season Round 7: Adelitas - Plateras 78-57

There was no surprise in Chihuahua where 4th placed Plateras (1-8) were crushed by leader Adelitas (9-0) 78-57 on Saturday. Adelitas made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Plateras turnovers. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-1996, college: Temple) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Kristen Spolyar (178-1997, college: Butler) helped adding 17 points and 4 steals. At the losing side forward Kamilah Jackson (183-1992, college: Hawaii) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and center Shakeya Leary (189-1990, college: Syracuse) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Adelitas. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Plateras lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Adelitas will again meet at home Plateras (#4) in the next round. Plateras will have a break next round.
