Everything went according to plan in Mayaguez where first ranked Leones (12-6) beat 5th ranked Indios (9-11) 101-94 on Sunday. Leones made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international power forward Jordan Murphy (200-1997, college: Minnesota) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Leones' coach Wilhelmus Caanen used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-1992) who recorded 27 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Jordan Cintron (203-1998, college: Niagara) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leones have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-6 record, which they share with Quebradillas. Loser Indios keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Leones will meet league's leader Vaqueros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Indios will play again against the league's leader Leones (#1) in Juana Diaz and hope to secure a win.
