Seventh-ranked Venados (9-19) made lots of trouble for third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (18-10). Rayos de Hermosillo managed to secure only three-point victory 92-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Rayos de Hermosillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists. Turkish center Alihan Demir (206-1996, college: Minnesota) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Derrick Woods (203-1997, college: St.Peter's) added 23 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Venados. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Los Mochis and Astros. Venados lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 19 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against league's leader Astros in Guadalajara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Venados will play at home against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
