Regular Season Round 4: Reales - Leones 81-83

Very significant was Leones' (#2) just 2-point road victory against one of their biggest challengers Reales 83-81. The winners were led by Juan Guerrero (205-1993) who scored that evening 27 points and 9 rebounds and American-Ukrainian Steve Burtt (189-1984, college: Iona) supported him with 21 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Leones' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized American forward Antonio Pena (204-1986, college: Villanova) did not help to save the game for Reales. American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-1988, college: Stillman) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Four Reales players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Soles. Reales at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Caneros. Leones will play against Caneros (#4) in La Romana in the next round. Reales will play on the road against Metros in Santiago and hope to get back on the winning track.
