Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: San Jose and Libertad A.. San Jose crushed visiting Libertad A. by 52 points 109-57. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Libertad A.'s 34. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. San Jose players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. International swingman Vincenzo Ochipinti (191-1999) stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Argentinian forward Sebastian Picton (197-1992) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four San Jose players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international power forward Edison Ortiz (197-1982) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and international point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Jose will play against Mariscal E. in Filadelfia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Libertad A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Felix Perez.
