Regular Season Round 3: Liceo - Santa Tecla 78-45

There was a small surprise when Liceo (1-3) outplayed at home Santa Tecla (0-3) 78-45 on Saturday. Liceo forced 27 Santa Tecla turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Gabriela Escobar (162-2007) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Ana Ruiz (159-2005) accounted for 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Liceo players scored in double figures. Liceo's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Jennifer Zaldana (167-2003) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and forward Silvia Perez (158-2002) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Santa Tecla in the defeat. Liceo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santa Tecla will play against ExSal (#5) in San Salvador and hopes to get finally their first victory.
