Important game to mention about took place in Santo Domingo. Second ranked Soles (5-4) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Indios (4-5) 96-94 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) contributed with 30 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Juan Suero (196-1993) replied with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Yeikson Montero (196-1996, college: EMU) added 18 points in the effort for Indios. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Soles maintains second position with 5-4 record behind leader Leones, which they share with Marineros and Titanes. Indios at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Metros and Reales. Soles will play against bottom-ranked Caneros (#8) in La Romana in the next round where they are favorite. Indios will play at home against Reales and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
