Regular Season Round 6: Ancud - Univ. Austral 66-51

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Univ. Austral (2-4) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Ancud (2-4) 66-51 on Saturday. Ancud forced 25 Univ. Austral turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 20 on the offensive glass. Forward Paola Cardenas (-1996) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Anyela Velasquez chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Javiera Contreras (-2001) with a triple-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Constanza Antero (169-1998) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Ancud moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Univ. Austral. Ancud will meet league's second-placed Ceb Puerto Montt on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Univ. Austral will play against the league's leader Alemana P. and hope to secure a win.
