Not a big story in a game in Carolina where 5th ranked Gigantes (10-14) were defeated by third ranked Cariduros (13-13) 90-83 on Sunday. Cariduros shot 21 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Gigantes only scored four points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Arnaldo Toro (203-1997, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. International forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-1993, college: Manhattan) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Cariduros players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) who recorded 31 points and 6 assists and the former international center George Conditt IV (208-2000, college: Iowa St.) added 8 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Gigantes' coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cariduros maintains third place with 13-13 record having two points less than leader Ponce. Loser Gigantes keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Cariduros will meet at home Atleticos (#5) in the next round. Gigantes will play against the league's leader Vaqueros in Bayamon and hope to secure a win.
