Regular Season Round 9: Titanes - Marineros 105-93
Date: June 14, 2022
Everything could happen in San Cristobal at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Titanes and second-best Marineros had identical 5-4 record. This time Titanes used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Puerto Plata 105-93 on Tuesday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Titanes forced 20 Marineros turnovers. Richard Bautista (187-1997) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 assists for the winners and American Jordan Williams (198-1992, college: N.Texas) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) with 27 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and Bernardo Polanco (189-1994) scored 24 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Titanes and five Marineros players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Titanes (6-4) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Leones lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Marineros dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Metros. Titanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Marineros will play against Indios (#7) and hope to secure a win.
