The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (19-8) in Carolina on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by fifth ranked Gigantes (11-16) 92-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Vaqueros' 34. They outrebounded Vaqueros 46-26 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-1987, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. The former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) answered with 14 points and American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) added 14 points in the effort for Vaqueros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes moved-up to fourth place. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with eight games lost. Gigantes are looking forward to face higher ranked Leones (#3) in Juana Diaz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaqueros will play on the road against Brujos in Guayama and are hoping to win this game.
