Regular Season Round 7: Univ. Austral - Alemana P. 51-82

There was no surprise when 4th placed Univ. Austral (2-5) was outleveled by leader Alemana P. (6-0) in Puerto Montt 82-51 on Saturday. Alemana P. held Univ. Austral to an opponent 23.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Alemana P. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Univ. Austral's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Tatiana Gomez (192-1981) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 24 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. The former international forward Massiel Mondaca (173-1983) accounted for 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Camila Ovando (-2000) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Natali Contreras (-2003) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Univ. Austral in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Alemana P.. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Univ. Austral lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Alemana P. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Univ. Austral's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Puerto Montt to the arena Ceb Puerto Montt.
