Sixth-ranked Brujos (8-20) gave a tough game to first ranked Vaqueros (20-8) in Bayamon. Vaqueros managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Vaqueros dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by the former international point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-1992, college: Miami, FL) who scored that evening 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) supported him with 16 points and 6 assists. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Even 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American power forward Ben McCauley (206-1986, college: NC State) did not help to save the game for Brujos. Naturalized American swingman Jahvari Josiah (193-1993, college: Coppin St.) added 25 points and 10 rebounds. Vaqueros maintains first position with 20-8 record. Brujos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Humacao. Vaqueros will play against Indios (#5) in Mayaguez in the next round. Brujos will play on the road against Atleticos in San German and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
