There was no surprise when 10th ranked Paysandu (1-8) was crushed at home by third ranked D.Sporting (7-2) 89-20 on Saturday. D.Sporting held Paysandu to an opponent 14.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.2 percent accuracy of the winners. D.Sporting forced 22 Paysandu turnovers and outrebounded them 59-27 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Paysandu's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when D.Sporting made 8 blocks. Forward Jessica Da Costa (-1991) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and forward Carolina Curbelo (178-2002) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. D.Sporting's coach Gino Alderete felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Andrea Sotelo (-1986) with 4 points and 8 rebounds and center Karen Villamarin (-1985) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 25 de Agosto. Paysandu lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Juventud and Urunday. D.Sporting will meet at home league's leader Aguada in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Paysandu will play against Montevideo (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
