Regular Season Round 9: Remeros - Montevideo 93-33
Date: June 25, 2022
Very expected game in Mercedes where 9th ranked Montevideo (2-7) was rolled over by fifth ranked Remeros (6-3) 93-33 on Saturday. Remeros held Montevideo to an opponent 24.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Remeros forced 34 Montevideo turnovers and outrebounded them 49-32 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Montevideo's players. Forward Pia Moyano (170-1995) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian center Ornela Bacchini (188-1989, college: OLLU) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Five Remeros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Victoria Cardone (160-1994) with 17 points and Florencia Cardoso (-1999) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Remeros. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Malvin and Hebraica. Montevideo lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Remeros will meet Lagomar (#8) in the next round. Montevideo will play against Paysandu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
