Regular Season Round 11: Frontera - Ceb Puerto Montt 88-58

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Temuco where second-ranked Ceb Puerto Montt (7-3) was crushed by third ranked Frontera (7-2) 88-58 on Sunday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Frontera dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ceb Puerto Montt's 34. They outrebounded Ceb Puerto Montt 51-27 including a 38-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Frontera looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Daniela Troncoso (178-1987) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Angella Angotzi (171-1986) helped adding 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Frontera players scored in double figures. The former international Pia Soto (170-1995) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Martina Gallardo (168-2003) scored 16 points. Ceb Puerto Montt's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Frontera. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Gimnastico. Loser Ceb Puerto Montt dropped to the third position with three games lost.
