Arecibo held off Carolina to surge ahead in the series. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 9 assists. Mexican center Gustavo Ayon (207-1985, college: SJSU, agency: Pro Sports) helped adding 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American guard Sheldon Mac (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Alex Franklin (198-1988, college: Siena) scored 13 points. Five Capitanes and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games.
