Regular Season Round 3: Santa Ana 2 - Santa Tecla ITD 31-75

There was a minor upset when Santa Ana 2 (0-2) was crushed at home by Santa Tecla ITD (1-3) 75-31 on Sunday. Santa Tecla ITD held Santa Ana 2 to an opponent 23.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Santa Tecla ITD forced 30 Santa Ana 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 56-36 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Liliana Alvarado (172-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Cuban point guard Arlenys Romero (176-1984) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was center Carina Cornejo (200-1975) who recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds and Guatemalan center Ana Morales (200-1998) added 3 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Tecla ITD will meet at home San Miguel (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santa Ana 2 will play against LMMR 2 and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
