Regular Season Round 11: Heroes - Piratas 77-71

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Caracas. Third ranked Heroes faced their close opponent Piratas. Host Heroes (3-2) defeated guests from La Guaira (3-5) 77-71. Heroes outrebounded Piratas 42-28 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Davion Berry (193-1991, college: Weber St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Kevin Nino (195-1991) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Heroes players scored in double figures. American Tamyrik Fields (198-1996, college: Augusta, agency: Interperformances) answered with 18 points and the former international forward Elder Gimenez (186-1991) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Piratas. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Heroes moved-up to second place, which they share with Gigantes. Newly promoted Piratas dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Heroes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Broncos.
