Leader Punto Rojo delivered the ninth victory on Friday night. This time they crushed 7th ranked Guerreros (1-7) 134-64. Punto Rojo dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Guerreros' 40. Punto Rojo forced 21 Guerreros turnovers and outrebounded them 56-38 including a 44-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 52.9 percentage. Punto Rojo looked well-organized offensively handing out 40 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Guerreros' players. Uruguayan guard Martin Trelles (187-1996) had a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Johu Castillo (199-1999) chipped in 21 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five Punto Rojo players scored in double figures. Punto Rojo's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Enrique Estrella (-1999) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Geovanny Ramon (-1996) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Punto Rojo (9-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Loser Guerreros keep the seventh place with seven games lost. Punto Rojo will meet at home Club Valle (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Guerreros will play against Caballeros in Tulcan and hope to win that game.
