Regular Season Round 1: Tipitapa - Leonas 84-79

Rather expected game when Leonas lost on the road to Tipitapa 84-79 on Sunday. Tipitapa forced 20 Leonas turnovers. Clenia Salazar nailed a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds for the winning side and Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Katia Contreras (-1989) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Kenia Chamorro added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for Leonas in the defeat. Four Leonas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Tipitapa will meet at home Jaguares in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leonas will play against No Fear and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
