Very expected game in Maturin where 5th ranked Cangrejeros (2-10) were defeated by first ranked Cocodrilos (8-2) 84-67 on Sunday. Cocodrilos made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-1994, college: Merrimack) fired 14 points and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Gregory Curvelo (195-1990) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Five Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. Point guard Emiro Hernandez (188-1994) produced 23 points and 4 assists and Argentinian forward Nicholas Wadell (201-1989) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cocodrilos maintains first place with 8-2 record. Cangrejeros lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Cocodrilos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cangrejeros will play against the league's leader Guaiqueries (#1) and hope to secure a win.
