The game with biggest result difference took place in Managua. Local Leones MGA (5-2) outscored 9th ranked Occidentales (1-6) 90-51 on Friday night. Leones MGA dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Occidentales' 34. They outrebounded Occidentales 45-28 including a 35-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Leones MGA looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Jean Quezada (-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) who added 25 points, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Leones MGA players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and guard Deikel Sanchez scored 17 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones MGA moved-up to third place. Occidentales lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Leones MGA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Occidentales will play against UNI Basket (#5) and hope to win that game.
