Regular Season Round 6: Libertadores - Mineros 94-85

There was no surprise in Queretaro where 7th ranked Mineros (5-4) were defeated by third ranked Libertadores (5-4) 94-85. Libertadores outrebounded Mineros 34-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American Vander Blue (196-1992, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Branden Frazier (191-1992, college: Fordham, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Naturalized American Durrell Summers (196-1989, college: Michigan St.) replied with 30 points and American swingman Jordan Williams (198-1992, college: N.Texas) added 17 points in the effort for Mineros. Four Libertadores and five Mineros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Libertadores maintains third position with 5-4 record having just one point less than leader Dorados, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Mineros. Libertadores will play against Halcones UV Xalapa (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Mineros will play against the league's second-placed Fuerza Regia (#2) in Monterrey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
