An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Puerto La Cruz. Third ranked Gladiadores faced 4th ranked Marinos. Guests from Caracas (11-4) defeated host Marinos (3-10) 93-81. American-Puerto Rican Devon Collier (203-1991, college: Oregon St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Jhon Romero (199-1985) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Gladiadores players scored in double figures. Dominican forward Jack Michael Martinez (201-1981) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and Nigerian-American guard George A Williams II (198-1990, college: WBU) added 24 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Marinos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gladiadores moved-up to second place. Marinos at the other side keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Gladiadores will play against Gigantes (#3) in Puerto Ordaz in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Marinos will have a break next round.
