Regular Season Round 7: Abejas - Dorados 104-69

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Dorados (8-3) in Guanajuato on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by sixth ranked Abejas (6-6) 104-69. Abejas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Dorados' 38. They outrebounded Dorados 39-27 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian Kevin Hernandez (205-1991) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Abejas players scored in double figures. American Donald Sims (190-1987, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 12 points and 5 assists and the other American import center Marvin Jefferson (206-1986, college: Idaho, agency: Interperformances) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Dorados. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Abejas went down to seventh position due to points difference. Dorados at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Abejas are looking forward to face higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#4) in Monterrey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dorados will play at home against Plateros and are hoping to win this game.
