Regular Season Round 9: UniFacisa - Praia 43-85

Very expected game in Paraiba where bottom-ranked UniFacisa (0-8) was rolled over by third ranked Praia (6-1) 85-43 on Tuesday. Praia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to UniFacisa's 22. Praia forced 28 UniFacisa turnovers and outrebounded them 52-25 including a 22-4 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Raffael Mencarini (187-2001) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Guilherme Estevao (204-2000) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Praia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Iure Sousa (-2001) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Matheus Pinheiro (-2001) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Praia moved-up to second place, which they share with Sao Jose. UniFacisa lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Praia will meet at home Sao Paulo (#5) in the next round. UniFacisa will play against Campo Mourao (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
