The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Llaneros' (7-12) road victory over 5th ranked Toros (2-15) in Maracay 85-69 on Wednesday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Llaneros made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) who scored that evening 16 points and center Carlos Rodriguez (206-1989) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Five Llaneros players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds by Jamaican-American forward Staphon Blair (206-1993, college: UCF, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) did not help to save the game for Toros. Point guard Edson Tovar (180-2005) added 10 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Llaneros maintains fourth position with 7-12 record. Toros lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. Llaneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toros will play against Guaros (#4) in Barquisimeto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
