Regular Season Round 28: Gladiadores - Gigantes 78-91

An interesting game for Gigantes (11-5) which played road game in Caracas against their biggest opponent Gladiadores (12-5). Third ranked Gigantes managed to get a 13-point victory 91-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gladiadores. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import center Jarred Shaw (208-1990, college: Utah St.) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican Devon Collier (203-1991, college: Oregon St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Sheldon Mac (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) scored 25 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes maintains third position with 11-5 record behind leader Centauros. Gladiadores at the other side keep the second place with five games lost. Gigantes will play against Cangrejeros (#5) in Maturin in the next round. Gladiadores will play at home against Marinos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
