Everything could happen in Montevideo at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Lagomar and one of their biggest challengers Juventud had identical 2-1 record. This time Lagomar used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Las Piedras 87-47 on Saturday night. Lagomar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Juventud's 36. Lagomar forced 33 Juventud turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Victoria Pereyra (172-1986) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks and Argentinian guard Melina Marcial (168-1998) who added 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Karina Acosta (-1986) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and Alfonsina Duarte (-1989) scored 2 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lagomar maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Yale, which they share with D.Sporting. Newly promoted Juventud keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Malvin. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Urunday.
