Not a big story in a game in Mercedes where 6th ranked Remeros (1-4) were rolled over by third ranked Malvin (3-2) 84-51 on Sunday. Malvin dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Remeros' 16. They outrebounded Remeros 59-35 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Malvin looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Remeros' players. The best player for the winners was Argentinian Maria Jourdheuil (180-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 19 rebounds and 9 assists. Florencia Somma (175-1988) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Malvin players scored in double figures. Malvin's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Leticia Menendez (164-1995) produced 16 points and 6 assists and Argentinian point guard Sofia Wolf (166-2000) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. Malvin maintains third place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Yale. Loser Remeros dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Malvin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena D.Sporting.
