Regular Season Round 2: Taurinas - Patriotas 103-86

There was no surprise when Patriotas were defeated on the road by Taurinas 103-86 on Sunday. Taurinas forced 22 Patriotas turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Patriotas' players. International point guard Guadalupe Diaz (163-1999) scored 23 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Thalia Garcia (177-1994) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Ivonny Seijas responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Lusney Parra scored 20 points. Five Taurinas and four Patriotas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Taurinas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Patriotas will play against Pastoras in Barquisimeto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
