Regular Season Round 10: Abejas - Plateros 88-77

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Abejas (10-8) beat 7th ranked Plateros (8-9) in Guanajuato 88-77 on Thursday. Abejas looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) supported him with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Abejas players scored in double figures. Abejas' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by Puerto Rican-Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-1992) did not help to save the game for Plateros. American forward Jamil Wilson (201-1990, college: Marquette) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Abejas maintains fourth position with 10-8 record. Loser Plateros dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Mineros. Abejas will meet Soles (#8) in the next round. Plateros will play against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and hope to secure a win.
