Everything could happen in Las Piedras at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Juventud and one of their biggest challengers Paysandu had identical 2-3 record. This time Juventud used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Paysandu 44-31 on Saturday night. Juventud held Paysandu to an opponent 16.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 23.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Juventud forced 27 Paysandu turnovers and had a 37-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Karina Acosta (-1986) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Marcela Olivera (-1984) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Karen Villamarin (-1985) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Sofia Nilson (-1997) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Juventud maintains third position with 3-3 record having just three points less than leader Yale, which they share with Malvin. Paysandu at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Hebraica. Juventud will meet at home Urunday (#6) in the next round. Paysandu will play against the league's second-placed Lagomar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
