The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Gigantes' (16-7) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Marinos (5-20) in Puerto La Cruz 94-54 on Saturday. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Marinos' 36. Gigantes forced 19 Marinos turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American Trey Gilder (206-1985, college: NSU) who scored that evening 18 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Harold Cazorla (175-1991, agency: Promo Sport ID) supported him with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points by Nigerian-American guard George A Williams II (198-1990, college: WBU) did not help to save the game for Marinos. Colombian forward Miguel Fernandez (194-1992) added 9 points. Gigantes maintains third position with 16-7 record having just four point less than leader Centauros. Marinos lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 20 games lost. Gigantes will meet league's second-placed Guaiqueries in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marinos will have a break next round.
