There was no surprise in Managua where 7th ranked Leon (7-10) was crushed by second ranked Jaguares (15-4) 83-61. Jaguares dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Leon's 24. They outrebounded Leon 58-38 including a 43-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jaguares players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Leon's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American center Leon Hampton (213-1995, college: Stillman) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Kaleb Myers (-2004) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Hampton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Puerto Rican guard Antonio Ralat (188, college: UAB) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Walter Diaz (179-1989) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Leon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jaguares maintains second position with 15-4 record having just one point less than leader Real Esteli. Leon at the other side keeps the seventh place with ten games lost.
