Regular Season Round 7: Danzantes - Bucaneras 69-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Danzantes' (0-5) home loss to fourth ranked Bucaneras (2-3) 69-81 on Saturday. Bucaneras forced 24 Danzantes turnovers and outrebounded them 50-38 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Yurkia Gallardo (-1991) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Barbara Herrera helped adding 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side the former international Yanetsy Zamaro (178-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and Dubreily Rodriguez scored 12 points and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bucaneras moved-up to third place, which they share with Caribenas. Danzantes lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Bucaneras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Danzantes will play again against Bucaneras (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory.
