An interesting game for Lagomar (6-1) which played road game in Paysandu against 4th placed Paysandu (2-5). Second ranked Lagomar had an easy win 113-30. Lagomar held Paysandu to an opponent 19.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 51.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Lagomar forced 40 Paysandu turnovers and outrebounded them 52-31 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Paysandu's players. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Victoria Pereyra (172-1986) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds, 13 assists and 9 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Argentinian guard Melina Marcial (168-1998) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Five Lagomar players scored in double figures. Lagomar's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Fiorella Santostefano came up with 7 points and 9 rebounds and Diana Riani added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Paysandu in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Lagomar. They maintain second place with 6-1 record behind leader Yale. Newly promoted Paysandu keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Yale.
