Regular Season Round 8: Tipitapa - UNI 102-59

Bottom-ranked UNI (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 102-59 loss to fourth ranked Tipitapa (7-8) in on Sunday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to UNI's 24. Tipitapa forced 29 UNI turnovers and outrebounded them 48-32 including 30 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Clenia Salazar who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) who added 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals during the contest. Four Tipitapa players scored in double figures. American swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Puerto Rican Glennys Rosa scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. UNI's coach gave up on the game allowing to play thirteen players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Tipitapa maintains fourth position with 7-8 record. UNI at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 13 games lost.
