A very close game took place in Sao Paulo between Cerrado and Sao Paulo. Third ranked Cerrado (9-6) got a very close victory on the road over their close opponent Sao Paulo (9-5). Cerrado managed to escape with a 1-point win 70-69 in the fight for the third place. Power forward Ruan Miranda (205-2001) notched 22 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Victor Silva (199-2001) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds by center Matheus Maciel (206-2001) did not help to save the game for Sao Paulo. Guard Luiz Mendonca (188-2000) added 16 points for the hosts. Sao Paulo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cerrado maintains third position with 9-6 record having four points less than leader Pinheiros which they share with defeated Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. Cerrado will meet at home Bauru (#5) in the next round. Sao Paulo will play against Praia in Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
