Very significant was Argentinian San Martin's 83-76 road victory against Ecuadorian Punto Rojo. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Punto Rojo won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when San Martin won last quarter 22-16. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Punto Rojo was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Gaston Garcia (187-1998) notched 18 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and American forward Dominic Morris (202-1990, college: Boston U.) supported him with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Five San Martin players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) did not help to save the game for Punto Rojo. American-Panamanian point guard CJ Rodriguez (188-1994, college: S.Nazarene) added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Punto Rojo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Martin will play against Titanes in Barranquilla in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Punto Rojo will play on the road against LSB / B2B in Sorocabana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
