Regular Season Round 10: Santa Tecla - Brujos 98-81

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Brujos (1-4) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Santa Tecla (9-4) 98-81 on Wednesday. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 40. They outrebounded Brujos 51-39 including a 40-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Brujos' players. American forward Christopher Blake (195-1988, college: Detroit) scored 37 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Cameron Lard (206-1997, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. Santa Tecla's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Arinze Obiora (196-1997, college: UMass Dartmouth) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and Joshua Quincy scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Santa Tecla have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Brujos lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with four games lost. Santa Tecla will meet at home bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brujos will play against Santa Ana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
