Leader Aguila delivered the eleventh victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 9th ranked Santiagueno (2-10) 119-78 in San Miguel. Aguila dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Santiagueno's 48. Aguila forced 23 Santiagueno turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Santiagueno's players. Panamanian forward Pablo Rivas (198-1994, college: NCCU) scored 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Brenden Van Dyke (203-1998, college: Emporia St.) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Aguila players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 22 rebounds and Santiago Esperanza (185-1993) scored 23 points. Aguila (11-1) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Santiagueno lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. Aguila will meet Nejapa (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Santiagueno will play against Chalchuapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
