Regular Season Round 4: Obera - Pichincha 105-65
Date: October 7, 2022
An interesting game for Argentinian Obera (1-0) which hosted in Obera one of their biggest challengers Bolivian Pichincha (0-1). Top-ranked Obera had an easy win 105-65. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Obera led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Pichincha's 40. Obera forced 24 Pichincha turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Pichincha's players. Obera brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gaston Cordoba (200-1994) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-1993, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) who added 17 points during the contest. Four Obera players scored in double figures. Obera's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) responded with 24 points and American-Puerto Rican Christopher Gaston (201-1989, college: Fordham) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Despite that victory Obera went down to first position due to points difference, which they share with Bauru. Defending Bolivian champion Pichincha still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Regatas. Obera will play against league's leader Paschoalotto/Bauru at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pichincha will play against Regatas and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
