A very close game took place in Chinandega between Occidentales and Rivas. Ninth ranked Occidentales (5-17) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Rivas (3-18). Occidentales managed to escape with a 2-point win 77-75 in the fight for the ninth place. Strangely Rivas outrebounded Occidentales 46-33 including a 17-5 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Deikel Sanchez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks and Mauro Guerrero supported him with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) did not help to save the game for Rivas. Cuban Yosniel Morales (196-1987) added 20 points and 12 rebounds. Four Occidentales and five Rivas players scored in double figures. Occidentales maintains ninth position with 5-17 record. Loser Rivas stay at the bottom place with 18 games lost.
