Regular Season Round 10: Chalchuapa - Santa Ana 80-84

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-12) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Santa Ana (3-9) 84-80 on Friday. Santa Ana outrebounded Chalchuapa 40-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Armani Chaney (178-1997, college: Tennessee St.) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Jarius Shumpert (203, college: Grace Christian) chipped in 21 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Worth to mention Chaney played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. At the losing side forward David Daniels (196-1998, college: Spring Hill) responded with 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Ameer Biddle (193, college: PS Wilkes Barre) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Chalchuapa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santa Ana moved-up to eighth place. Loser Chalchuapa still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Santa Ana will meet at home Brujos (#10) in the next round. Chalchuapa will play against Santa Tecla and hopes to get finally their first victory.
