The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Montaneras in Santurce on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by Cangrejeras 82-76. Cangrejeras dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Montaneras' 28. American power forward Rebecca Tobin (195-1988, college: Arizona St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The former international guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and American guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Montaneras. Five Cangrejeras and four Montaneras players scored in double figures. Montaneras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cangrejeras are again looking forward to face Montaneras in Morovis in the next round. Montaneras will play at home against Cidra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
