Regular Season Round 12: Aguila - Santa Ana 94-80

Liga MB top team - Aguila (13-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked Santa Ana (3-12) in San Miguel 94-80. Aguila dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 38. They outrebounded Santa Ana 50-24 including a 40-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aguila looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by American forward Brenden Van Dyke (203-1998, college: Emporia St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Puerto Rican power forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (209-1990, college: UNLV) supported him with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Aguila's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Armani Chaney (178-1997, college: Tennessee St.) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana. Guard Benjamin Colocho (186-1999) added 14 points. Four Aguila and five Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Aguila have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-2 record. Santa Ana lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. Aguila will meet Metapan (#4) on the road in the next round. Santa Ana will play against Nejapa (#7) and hope to secure a win.
